  • 1. Can I send SMS to any overseas mobile number?

    Dhiraagu International SMS allows Mobile Post-Paid and Pre-Paid customers to send SMS messages to customers of an overseas mobile operator.

  • 2. Will I be able to send an international SMS to a Mobile customer in the Maldives while I am roaming?

    Yes, if the network you are roaming on allows Mobile customers to send SMS messages.

    To send an SMS to a Mobile customer while roaming, simply send the SMS to the Mobile number (there is no need to add the access code and country code in front of the number since you are both Mobile customers)

  • 3. Will I be able to send an international SMS to a mobile customer in a third country while I am roaming?

    This will depend on:

    • Whether the overseas network you are roaming on allows Mobile roamers to send SMS messages and;
    • Whether the person you want to send the SMS to is a customer of a mobile operator with whom Dhiraagu has international SMS service.

  • 4. Will I be able to send an SMS to a Mobile customer roaming in another country?

    This will depend on whether the overseas network he or she is roaming allows incoming SMS for Mobile roamers.

    The receiver of your SMS maybe charged by the overseas operator. The exact rate will vary with the operator.

  • 5. I am an overseas mobile customer planning to visit the Maldives. Can I send SMS messages while I am roaming in the Maldives?

    No. Originating SMS service is currently not available to inbound roamers.

  • 6. What will happen to an international SMS that cannot be delivered immediately?

    The system will automatically retry to send the message a number of times.

  • 7. How long will the system retry before an undelivered international SMS is abandoned?

    The retry period is different for different networks. However, most operators will retry for a period of 24 hours, with differing retry intervals if the message is unsuccessful.

  • 8. How will the international SMS charges be shown on my mobile bill?

    International SMS charges will be shown under the sub-heading "International SMS" in your mobile bill.

  • 9. Do I have to dial the International Access Code before the country code and the mobile phone number to send an International SMS?

    You have the option to dial either the international access code or use "+". We recommend that you just key in a "+" before the country code and the mobile phone number you wish to send the international SMS to.

  • 10. Can I be sure that every international SMS I send will definitely be received by the intended party?

    In most cases the message will be received. However, in rare cases, it is possible that a "Message Sent" confirmation is shown on your mobile phone even if the message is not delivered to the destination number. This could be due to a non-compatible setup of the overseas network which results in the message not being successfully received.

  • 11. Can customers of an overseas mobile operator reply to an international SMS that I send to him?

    Yes, but only if the overseas network allows this feature.

  • 12. Will I be charged if I send an SMS to a wrong number?

    Yes. This is similar to making a phone call to a wrong number!

  • 13. I have sent an SMS to a friend in overseas but he says that he did not receive it. Why?

    Possible reasons for this may be that:

    • Your friend has not subscribed to the SMS service so he cannot receive SMS messages.
    • Your friend's mobile operator does not support or has blocked international SMS service so he cannot receive the message from you.
    • Your friend's SIM card/phone memory is full and he needs to delete some old messages in order to free space for incoming SMS, including yours.

  • 14. Why am I not able to receive SMS from my overseas friend?

    Possible reasons for this may be that:

    • Your friend has not subscribed to the SMS service so he cannot send any SMS messages.
    • Your friend's mobile operator does not support or has blocked international SMS service so he cannot send the SMS to you.
    • Your SIM card/ phone memory is full and you need to delete some old messages in order to free space for incoming SMS, including your friend's.
