We offer special incentives to encourage public Internet access points throughout the Maldives. Under this offer, Dhiraagu will install a telephone line (in islands outside Male' where a cable network does not exist) at a subsidized rate and also offers a 20% discount on Net dial-up usage.

In islands where a cable network already exists, the standard Rf 30 monthly rental per line will be applicable with 20% discount on Internet usage charges as above. Interested parties should apply to the Island Office who will then advise Dhiraagu. Initially it is envisaged that Island Community bodies such as the Island Development Committee or the Women's Committee will operate one Cyber Station per inhabited island.

The following terms will apply:

Customer

Cyber Station will be located in an area easily accessed by the general
public.

Cyber Station should be open during the hours agreed with Dhiraagu.

Internet dial-up prices charged to the customer should not exceed 10% over Dhiraagu tariffs.

Local, national and international telephone calls and faxes can be
provided using the line but prices charged to customers should not
exceed 20% over Dhiraagu tariffs and priority should be given to
customers wanting to use the Cyber Station for Internet access.

The name 'Cyber Station' will be used for the service (for example 'Muli Cyber Station', Meemu Atoll.)

Advertising designed and provided by Dhiraagu should be used.

VoIP services (voice over the Internet Protocol) will not be provided or facilitated.

A standard display board (10" x 24") designed and provided by
Dhiraagu shall be displayed near cyber station.

Dhiraagu

Install and maintain telephone line(s) at the above tariffs subject to
availability of network capacity.

Provide training free of charge in Male', for staff operating the Cyber
Station.

Provide free POP3 email account (includes a username, password and
email address).

Install and configure Net software on Cyber Station PC (at Dhiraagu
offices).

The offer will be reviewed on an annual basis with Dhiraagu having the right to amend this offer in any manner and to discontinue with a prior notice of 30 days.

Dhiraagu may discontinue service if any party is found to be underutilizing the service provided pursuant to this programme. (i.e: The program is targeted for facilitating internet access service to the public).

Under this program jointly conducted with the Ministry of Education, a module on the Internet will be included in the academic year computer syllabus covering the benefits and applications of the Internet. In schools where Computer Studies is not included in the academic calendar, an adequate course on Internet usage and benefits shall be conducted to the students of Grades 9 and 10 (or the 2 senior grades) every year. Free access to the Internet will be given to the administration and staff of the schools and staff awareness program demonstrating the benefits and applications of the Internet shall be conducted at the off-Male' schools.
